Deze 28mm filmspoel bevat 2 Franse films bestemd voor gebruik met de Pathé Kok projector. De film is van het brandveilige acetaat materiaal gemaakt en kenmerkt zich ook door zijn perforaties . Eén perforatie tussen elk filmbeeld aan de rechterkant en drie perforaties per beeld aan de linkerkant.

This 28mm reel contains 2 French movies. This special safety film could be used with the Pathé Kok projector. The film can be recognised by it's perforations. On the right side the film has one perforation between the images. On the left side there are three perforation for each image.


Eén van de films is een print van de film La Fée Printemps (1902 of de remake uit 1906) en de andere film heeft als titel La Pipe Importune (geen gegevens over teruggevonden).

One film is called La Fée Printemps. This could be the 1902 version or the version of 1906, I'm not sure. The other movie is called La Pipe Importune (have not found more information about this movie).

Ik had reeds een onvolledige versie van deze Midas camera/projector voor 9,5mm film, maar deze keer heb een volledige versie kunnen bemachtigen met handleiding. De andere Midas is ondertussen verkocht.

I had already an incomplete version of this Midas camera/projector for 9,5mm film, but now I've obtained a complete version with manual. The other Midas has been sold.

Dit toestel is zowel een 9,5mm camera als projector. Het is een zeer compact toestel dat net zoals Pathé gebruik maakt van ronde 9,5mm filmcassettes (ze zijn wel niet gelijkaardig). Bruikbaar is hij echter niet meer, want de batterijen waarmee deze projector werkte zijn niet meer te verkrijgen. De Midas camera zou ook nogal onhandig in gebruik zijn geweest. Mijn eerste bevinden kunnen dit laatste alvast bevestigen.

The Midas can be used as a 9,5mm movie camera and also as a 9,5mm projector. It is very compact and uses round metal film magazines (just like the little Pathé Baby rolls). The projector works with special batteries, which are not available anymore. The Midas isn't very practical in use. My few experiments with some film can confirm this fact.

Dit is een origineel zilveren projectiescherm dat als accessoire werd aangeboden in verschillende Pathé Baby catalogi. Op het internet heb ik slechts één enkele foto terug gevonden van een gelijksoortig scherm. Ik veronderstel dan ook dat dit item een zeldzaamheid is.

Helemaal compleet is het doek niet. Normaal gezien zijn er ook nog twee vertikale houten stokken, waarmee men het doek kon aanspannen. De blauwe rand is in de loop der jaren afgebleekt.

This is an original silver projection screen that was offered in different Pathé Baby catalogues at the time. I have only found one other image of such a screen on the internet, so I think this is a rather rare item.

The screen is not complete however. There should be two vertical wooden bars to tighten the screen surface. The blue border of the screen has lost its bright color over the years.

This is an original American brochure for promoting the 28mm safety film. There are 4 different types of Pathé Kok projectors presented and also the Pathescope movie camera.

The Pathéscope Company Of America werd in 1913 opgericht in New York. Een paar jaar later werd er een ander filiaal geopend in Boston: The Pathéscope Company Of New England. Doel van de firma was het verdelen van het zogenaamde Pathéscope materiaal (= o.a. Pathé Kok projectors en films).

The Pathéscope Company Of America was founded in 1913 in New York. A few years later another department was opened in Boston: The Pathéscope Company Of New England. They distributed Pathéscope material around America (Pathé Kok projectors and movies).

Dit is een origineel exemplaar van het boek Der Kinematograph und Das Sich Bewegende Bild uit 1913, geschreven door Dr Carl Forch. Het is één van de belangrijkste technische boeken over de ontwikkeling van de filmtechnolgie van voor de eerste wereldoorlog en is tot op heden nog steeds een referentie voor heel wat onderzoekers.

This is an original print from the book Der Kinematograph und Das Sich Bewegende Bild from 1913, written by Dr Carl Forch. It is one of the most important books about the development of movie technology before the first world war and it's still a reference for many investigators in the field of movie history.


Het is een zéér technisch boek en voor mij totaal onbegrijpelijk (uiteraard ook omdat het in het Duits is geschreven).
It is a very technical book and written in German, so I don't understand much of it.
