Cinegraphica

Dit is een Duitse filmprojector uit midden de jaren 20 voor 35mm film. Deze projector laat alweer zien dat het soms niet makkelijk is om de juiste fabrikant te achterhalen. Een identieke projector werd vorig jaar op een Duitse veiling verkocht (zie ook foto hierboven). De projector werd er toegeschreven aan de firma Knittel, Dresden. Deze filmprojectoren werden ook Ta-Li-Ki projectoren genoemd. Ta-Li-Ki staat voor Tages Licht Kino (daglicht cinema). De bijbehorende box bevatte een mat doorzichtig oppervlak waarop ook bij dagtlicht de film kon worden geprojecteerd. In mijn versie is dit matte oppervlak helaas gescheurd.
Op de projector die ik nu heb staat op de houten box Heimlicht II. Voor de rest is de projector identiek aan deze van op de veiling. Ik weet dat Heimlicht een firma is uit Berlijn die ook o.a. projectors van ICA (de ica monopol bv) onder hun eigen naam uitbrachten. Ik vermoed dan ook dat Heimlicht ook deze projector van Knittel onder hun eigen naam heeft uitgebracht. Wat nog verder opvalt is dat de bouw van de projector veel gelijkenissen vertoond met de Knetsch 35mm projector in mijn verzameling (zie onderste foto van de twee projectoren tesamen). Wat de verhoudingen zijn tussen al deze Duitse firma's (Heimlicht, Knittel, Knetsch) is mij tot op heden onbekend, maar duidelijk is dat deze firma's op één of andere manier met elkaar verbonden zijn. Wie hier meer over weet mag me dit altijd mailen.


This is a German 35mm film projector from the middle of the 1920's. Again, this projector shows us that it is not easy to find the right manufacturer. An identical projector was sold last year at a German auction (see photo above). The projector was attributed to the company Knittle, Dresden. These projectors were also called Ta-Li-Ki-projectors. Ta-Li-Ki stands for Tages Licht Kino (daylight cinema). The wooden box contained a transparent matte surface where the movie could be projected on. In my version, this surface is unfortunately torn.
On the wooden box you can see the name Heimlicht II. For the rest the projector is identical to the one that was auctioned.
I know that Heimlicht, a company from Berlin, made projectors from other manufacturers under their own name (ica monopol for example). I suspect they also did this with this Knittle projector. Even more striking is that the construction of the projector shows many similarities with the Knetsch 35mm projector in my collection (see bottom picture of the two projectors together). I don't know what the relationships between all these German companies are (Heimlicht, Knittle, Knetsch) , but it is clear that these firms are linked to each other in one way or another. Dit is een 35 mm projector van Duitse makelij. Uit opzoekingen blijkt dat dit een projector is van de firma Knetsch.
Net zoals de mijn Seischab projector heeft deze projector een interessante vormgeving. De filmspoelen bevinden zich co-axiaal onder het lamphuis (net zoals de 16mm Zeiss projector in m'n verzameling).

De vlinder is wat versleten, maar verder lijkt alles aanwezig te zijn (inclusief houten kist). De projector heeft ook een extra arm achteraan. Dit diende om de film snel terug te spoelen.

This is a 35mm projector from Germany. After some investigation it looks like this is a projector from the manufacturer Knetsch.
Just as my Seischab projector, this projector has an interesting design. The reels are mounted on the same axis beneath the lamphouse (just like the 16mm Zeiss Ikon projector in my collection).

The shutter is worn, but the projector seems to be complete (wooden transportation box included). There is an extra reel arm at the back of the projector. This was used for rewinding the film.


Daar waar de Seischab eerder bedoeld is als speelgoedprojector, lijkt deze Knetsch toch een pak robuuster. De projector is ook groter en kan ook grotere filmspoelen houden. Wat datering betreft is het weer wat gokken. Op een gespecialiseerde veilingsite werd een gelijkaardige (maar gemotoriseerde) projector gedateerd op 1928 (zie foto hieronder).

This projector is much more sturdy than the Seischab projector and it can hold larger reels. I'm not sure about the production date. At a specialist auction a similar (but motorised) version was dated at 1928 (see picture beneath).
